The State Board of Elections is running a comprehensive public education campaign to inform North Carolina’s 7.5 million registered voters about the new photo identification requirement for the 2024 elections. The campaign spans various media, including TV, radio, digital platforms, billboards, and newspapers.
A Photo ID Mailer is set to reach all 4.9 million households before the March 5 primary and November 5 general election, providing essential details about voter photo ID laws, acceptable IDs, and election dates. The State Board, along with county boards of elections, will organize educational seminars across the state in 2024. Funding for this initiative comes from the N.C. General Assembly’s state budget.
Walk West, a Durham-based marketing agency, is assisting in developing the campaign strategy and placing ads across different platforms.
North Carolina voters will need photo ID to vote, with options beyond driver’s licenses. Voters can obtain free IDs from their county board of elections or the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles.
