A traffic stop in Waynesville last month ended with a drug bust and led to the arrest of five people. Waynesville police pulled over a vehicle near the 100-mile marker of U.S. 23/74 on June 21, and found an 89.6-gram package of suspected fentanyl and the driver and a passenger were taken into custody, leading to the search of a residence on Robinson St. where three more people were handcuffed after officers found what was believed to be fentanyl and methamphetamine inside the residence. All five are facing numerous felony possession and drug trafficking charges.
