Swain County Schools Safety Officer Toby Burrell announced on Wednesday that Swain County Schools will operate on a two hour delay on Thursday October 29th. Western North Carolina is under a Flash Flood Watch and Tropical Storm Warning initially through 10:15 on Wednesday October 28th. Some wind gusts could reach over 55 miles an hour with rain fall amounts upwards of 4 inches according to the National Weather Service. School officials will monitor conditions Wednesday night and Thursday morning and evaluate road conditions, flooding and power outages. The conditions could change based upon weather circumstances. Updates will be announced on WBHN Radio 94.1 FM and 1590 AM as they are available.
