A Virginia community is mourning the loss of a beloved firefighter after a “catastrophic accident.” Chesterfield County Fire and EMS announced the sudden passing of Alicia A. Monahan, an 11-year veteran with the department, who died while instructing students during a swift water rescue course Saturday June 25th on the Nantahala River in Macon County. Monahan was 41 years old.
