Mobile sports betting goes live in North Carolina on March 11, and the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) is partnering with Caesars Entertainment for this venture. Individuals aged 21 and older can sign up and deposit on the Caesars Sportsbook mobile app from March 1.
The expanded partnership grants Caesars Sportsbook mobile market access through a license held by the EBCI, subject to regulatory approvals. The EBCI currently operates two in-person sports betting facilities under Caesars Sportsbook.
Governor Roy Cooper signed legislation on June 14, 2023, allowing two ways to place sports wagers in North Carolina: in-person or via a registered interactive account for those 21 and older. The sportsbook at Harrah’s Cherokee, operational since March 18, 2021, has proven to attract a younger demographic, aligning well with the World Series of Poker offering.
