While St. Patrick’s Day is March 17, many people celebrate the weekend before. These celebrations make it one of the biggest drinking nights of the year and this unfortunately means more drunk drivers on the road. That’s why now through Sunday, as part of the Booze It & Lose It Campaign, law enforcement from all 100 counties will be conducting saturation patrols to remove impaired drivers off the roadways and ultimately save lives. Fifty-one percent of all nighttime fatalities on this holiday are due to drunk driving. Motorists caught driving while impaired could face jail, lose their driving privileges and pay hefty fines and fees. The Governor’s Highway Safety Program wants to remind you to never drink and drive.
