A Jackson County man is facing felony charges after he allegedly used a social messaging platform to make inappropriate contact with a child despite being a registered sex offender. The arrest is the result of a two month investigation and a joint operation between the Department of Homeland Security and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, and resulted in a search warrant at the home of Bobby Joe Conner on June 1, after allegations the 54 year old solicited who he thought was a child on the Discord app and asked to meet in real life, but it turned out to be an undercover agent. The investigation is still ongoing, and more charges are expected, the JCSO said in a statement. Conner is being held in the Jackson County Detention Center under a $300,000 secured bond.
