Voters will be asked to show photo ID starting with the November 2023 municipal elections. The N.C. State Elections Board last week sent out a fact sheet about North Carolina’s photo ID requirement for voting. The filing period runs from noon Friday, July 7, through noon Friday, July 21. A valid N.C. driver’s license will be accepted, as well as many other types of photo ID. Voters without ID can get a “No Fee ID Card” from the NCDMV. Soon, voters will also be able to get a free ID from their county board of elections.
