At the Marianna Black Library Board meeting on Tuesday, January 16, N.C. Rep. Mike Clampitt and N.C. Senator Kevin Corbin presented a substantial check amounting to $3.2 million. This funding, secured in the state budget, is designated for the renovation and expansion of the Marianna Black Library. The upcoming expansion project will encompass a dedicated teen area, an enhanced community room, small meeting rooms, and more.
Upon the initial announcement of the direct state funding, Ellen Snodgrass, Chairwoman of the MBL Board, expressed gratitude, stating, “We are immensely thankful to Representative Clampitt and Senator Corbin, along with their staffs, for securing this funding for the library project. This significant contribution marks a significant stride towards our objective of enhancing and broadening services for the community. Today is a momentous day for Swain County.”
