The South Atlantic League Baseball Player Of The Week for the week of August 5 – 11 is Kyle Datres who plays for the Asheville Tourists. He was the 12th round draft selection of the Colorado Rockies in the 2018 draft. Since the All-Star break Datres is batting .322 with a team high six home runs. Last week he went 8-for-20, had a .400 batting average, with two homers and three RBI, four runs scored, three walks, two stolen bases, and a triple. During August he is batting .417 with an on base percentage of .533 which helped the Asheville Tourists claim a tie for first place in the South Atlantic League’s Southern Division Standings. Datres did not commit a defensive error while starting every game last week at third base for Asheville. In his last 53 total chances Datres has committed only one error. Kyle Datres is the second Tourists player to been tapped as the League Player of the Week. The first was Willie McIver who claimed the recognition in April. Three pitchers have been identified as the Pitcher Of the Week by the League.
