Authorities have provided additional details regarding a shooting incident that occurred last Saturday afternoon at Lake Junaluska. The Haywood County Sheriff’s Office reported that a 21-year-old individual named Jasso Garcia Alejondro sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to Mission Hospital for medical treatment.
Christopher McNeely, a 35-year-old resident of Cullowhee, was apprehended on the same day and now faces the following charges: Assault with a deadly weapon resulting in serious injury. Damage to personal property. And,Misdemeanor child abuse.
This incident happened at the Cross parking lot, on the campus of the Lake Junaluska Assembly. Officials disclosed that McNeely initially left the scene but later returned, surrendering himself to law enforcement authorities.
