Jackson County recently appointed an interim county manager, Darlene Fox, to take over the responsibilities of Don Adams following his retirement in December.
Upon Adams’ departure on December 31, Darlene Fox, the current county finance manager, will assume the role of interim county manager. The Board of Commissioners made this announcement subsequent to a closed-door session during its regular meeting on November 21.
While retaining her position as finance manager, Fox has agreed to temporarily undertake the county manager’s responsibilities until a permanent replacement is appointed.
Having dedicated over four decades to serving Jackson’s residents, Fox possesses an extensive understanding of the county’s operations.
Reflecting on her career in local government finance within Jackson County, Fox stated, “I have devoted my career to serving in various capacities, starting as an accounting clerk, then as the assistant finance director for two years, before being appointed as the finance director in 1980.”
Additionally, Fox has previously served as the finance director for both the Jackson County Tourism Development Authority and Jackson County Airport Authority.
Despite assuming the interim role, Fox has clarified that she does not intend to apply for the manager’s position permanently.
Expressing confidence in Fox’s capabilities, Adams remarked, “I am confident that the Jackson County Board of Commissioners has made a prudent decision in appointing Finance Officer Darlene Fox as interim county manager. Her wealth of knowledge and experience will facilitate a smooth transition to a new administration for the county.”
Darlene Fox is set to commence her role as interim county manager starting January 1.
