Students at Swain County’s two elementary schools can look forward to free meals this school year thanks to a grant from the Dogwood Health Trust. Most students at East and West elementary schools qualify for free breakfasts and lunches. The $75,000 grant will help make up for any gaps, especially with some free meals, due to the pandemic, set to end this year. Swain school leaders continue their campaign for free or reduced meals for all county schools and urge parents to check eligibility and to submit any necessary paperwork.
