At 10 am Tuesday February 18, 2020, Haywood County Deputies responded to a residence on Long Branch Road in the Hyder Mountain community in reference to an emergency stabbing.
Sheriff’s deputies and emergency medical services responded to the call.
Upon law enforcement’s arrival, deputies learned one man was injured (stab wounds) another was deceased and the perpetrator was still inside the residence. The man with injuries was transported to the hospital.
The suspect initially refused to exit the house. Shortly after deputies used verbal de-escalation measures, the suspect exited the house and was arrested without incident.
Jody Vance Jones, 26, of Clyde, has been charged with Felony murder and Felony attempted first degree murder.
Jody was charged with felony murder of his father, Marion Jones and Felony attempted murder of his brother, Hunter Jones.
There is no bond at this time.
