Waynesville Man Arrested For Violent Attack

Brandon Michael Roussel, 30

A Waynesville man was arrested following an alleged violent attack on his same-sex domestic partner on the night of August 29.

The victim was reportedly bitten and choked before escaping the home and hiding outside until authorities arrived. Several personal items were damaged during the incident, including a television, an antique tea set, and a snowman stool — all belonging to the victim.

The victim had visible bruises, bite marks, and was bleeding when officers arrived on the scene.

Brandon Michael Roussel, 30, is accused of attacking his domestic partner, according to court documents. Roussel allegedly bit the victim on the nose, arms, and back, and punched him in the eye. Officers were dispatched to the shared residence on Chickering Lane in the Eagle’s Nest area around 7:40 p.m. Upon their arrival, the victim was found hiding outside.

The charging documents indicate that Roussel placed the victim in a chokehold and threatened to kill him.

Roussel was also charged with second-degree kidnapping, which involves forcibly moving someone from one location to another, even within the same home.

Roussel was arrested at the scene and now faces felony charges of second-degree kidnapping and assault by strangulation. He is also charged with misdemeanor offenses, including domestic violence, communicating threats, simple assault, and injury to personal property.

Roussel was released on a $5,000 bond on September 3, with conditions prohibiting him from possessing a firearm, contacting the victim, or going near the victim’s home, school, or workplace.
