Jackson Paper Manufacturing Company is owned by HIG Capital, which is a global alternative assets investment firm based in Atlanta with offices worldwide. Jackson Paper is a leading vertically integrated manufacturer of 100% recycled medium sheets, corrugated sheets, and corrugated packaging with facilities in Sylva NC, Morgantown, NC, and Dalton, GA. Jackson Paper consumes over 80 tons of biomass or wood chips each year as boiler fuel to break down corrugated containers into high-quality recycled paper.
The biomass production gives jobs to producers and truckers from over the region and keeps this material out of landfills and maintains the carbon footprint at 1,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions a year compared to about 34,000 tons had the mill had opted to use natural gas instead.
Carr Tyndall, the president of Jackson Paper Manufacturing Company, announced his retirement on Thursday. Tyndall’s career has been in paper mill operations at various locations from Florida to Washington State and is considered an industry leader in safety management for employees, innovation and production processes, and environmental quality standards. Tyndall has been president of Jackson Paper for almost five years after being promoted from his vice president position in January of 2020. The company has not announced who the new president will be at this time.
