A routine traffic stop on U.S. Highway 441 led to a high-speed chase and the recovery of nearly two pounds of suspected methamphetamine on Tuesday, according to the Franklin Police Department (FPD).

At approximately 12:08 p.m. on March 11, an FPD Community, Traffic, and Crime (CTAC) officer pulled over a vehicle for a traffic violation. While investigating, officers asked the driver to step out of the vehicle. When the driver returned to retrieve registration documents, she instead got into the driver’s seat and fled the scene.

FPD officers, along with deputies from the Macon County Sheriff’s Office, pursued the suspect as she allegedly discarded large amounts of suspected methamphetamine from the vehicle. Law enforcement eventually apprehended the driver without incident.

Officers recovered approximately 843 grams (1.86 pounds) of suspected methamphetamine from both the roadway and the suspect’s vehicle.

The driver, identified as 37-year-old Adrienne Nichole Carver of Franklin, now faces multiple felony charges, including:

  • Trafficking methamphetamine (two counts)
  • Maintaining a vehicle for controlled substances
  • Felony fleeing to elude arrest
  • Littering hazardous waste
  • Destroying criminal evidence
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Resisting public officers

Carver was booked into custody with a secured bond set at $2.1 million.

The CTAC officer involved in the stop is part of a specialized unit established last year to address community relations, traffic concerns, and crime-related issues.

Authorities have not released further details at this time.
