Flash Flooding at Dollywood

Flash flooding at Dollywood amusement park on Sunday, July 28, 2024

Torrential rain in eastern Tennessee led to flash flooding at Dollywood amusement park on Sunday, July 28, resulting in minor injuries to one person. ABC affiliate WATE shared photos and videos depicting the park’s parking lot submerged in water, with several cars inundated. Other images showed floodwaters within the park and its attractions.

Pigeon Forge Police reported on social media that McCarter Hollow Road, located at the park’s entrance, had collapsed due to the heavy rain.

In a social media post, the park mentioned that Pigeon Forge Police and fire departments assisted park staff in guiding guests to safety. The post confirmed one minor injury but did not provide further details. Dollywood officials have pledged to assist guests whose vehicles were impacted by the flooding. The park reopened at noon on Monday, July 29.
