The North Carolina High School Athletic Association announced on July 6th that Murphy High School athlete Sarah Pullium is the recipient of the Pat Best Memorial Trophy as the Association’s Female Athlete Of The Year. This is the 36th year the award has been presented. Pullium was on the Bulldogs 1-A state championship basketball team for two titles. She was named the Most Outstanding Performer for the 1 – A Championship Game. Individually she won the state discus championship in her freshman and sophomore years, missed her junior year due to COVID restrictions then came back to win her senior year championship last month by more than 29 feet. Her efforts in Track and Field helped Murphy win two state Track and Field team championships. She also helped her school’s volleyball team win three conference championships. She was named to the All Conference team and earned Best Offensive Player this past season. She also made the soccer team this past season and earned the Rookie Of The Year honors.
